Why Control Mice

1

Health risks

Mice can carry harmful diseases like salmonella, hantavirus, and leptospirosis which can be transmitted to humans through their droppings, bites, or contact with their urine.

2

Food Contamination

Mice often contaminate food with their dropping and urine, making food unsafe to consume therefore leading to financial loss and food wastage.

3

Damage Property

Their constant gnawing behaviour can damage wooden structure, furniture, electrical wiring and insulation, potentially causing fires which is hazardous in buildings.

4

Rapid breeding

Mice reproduce very quickly, meaning a small infestation can rapidly escalate into a large infestation if not addressed quickly.

5

Nuisance Factor

The presence of mice in a home can be unsettling and cause psychological discomfort.

Mice Infestation signs

1

Droppings

Each mouse leave around 50-80 droppings per day. Mouse droppings are small black pellets the size of a grain of rice (approx, 3-8 mm in length), scattered randomly. Fresh droppings will be soft and moist, it becomes hard within a few hours. Usually found inside cupboard, under sinks, or along walls and skirting etc.

2

Strong Smell

Mice urinate frequently and urine has a strong ammonia - like smell. Mice urine smell can last for a long time (even after an infestation has been removed.

3

Urine Pillars

In large or established infestation, grease from body, combined with urine and dirt, builds up into small mounds, up to 4cm high and 1cm wide.

4

Allergic reactions

Aggravated allergic and asthmatic reactions caused by the mouse fur and droppings.

5

Scratching noise

Often at night when mice are most active. Listen for noises inside partition walls, in false ceilings, floorboards, behind furniture, inside cupboards, basements and lofts.

6

Nests

Soft materials, mice will create a nest in undisturbed areas like shoeboxes, inside airing cupboards, in lofts, under floor boards and behind furniture and skirting etc.

7

Smear Marks

Mice leave behind brown / black oily and greasy marks from their fur, brushing against walls, floors, skirting boards and holes around pipes etc.

8

Live or dead mice

Finding a dead mouse or spotting a mouse during the daytime can be an indication of a heavy infestation.
