Carpet Beetle Control

Carpet Beetle Control

Carpet beetles are common pests affecting homes across London. Carpet beetles larvae, also known as "woolly bears" will feed on natural fibres like wool, silk, leather, fur and feathers, causing significant damage to clothing, carpets and other household items.

Our pest controllers are experts at treating these beetles to eliminate any infestations.

Signs of Carpet Beetle Infestation

1

Damaged fabric

Holes or thin spots in carpets, rugs, clothing and upholstery.

2

Visible beetles

Whilst the damage is caused by the larvae, you may see small oval - shaped beetles with colourful patterns on their backs.

3

Larvae sightings

You may find larvae on clothes or soft furnishings. It is at this stage that damage to property happens.

4

Carpet beetles appearance

Carpet beetles are oval shaped beetles that are usually brown or black in colour.

The larvae (known as "woolly bears") are small, about 2 to 4mm long, and look like a small mottled brown, grey and cream ladybird. The larvae is covered in brown hairs, and tend to roll up when disturbed.

9

Minimum preparation

Unlike spray treatments, Heat treatment allows you to leave clothes and furniture in place, saving you time and the stress of relocating your belongings.

What is heat treatment?

Heat treatment is the latest non-toxic, chemical free and most effective way to completely eradicate carpet beetles. We at PEST HUNTERZ use indirect space heaters to raise the temperature of an infested area to above 50 degrees celcius. This temperature is lethal to carpet beetles but safe for treated areas, and we maintain it for an extended period.

The heat will kill carpet beetles at all stages of their life cycle.

Insecticides treatment

1

First inspection

Our experienced team of carpet beetle technicians will treat your property with professional and effective insecticides spray which, is a chemical that kills, repels or harms carpet beetles that have a prolonged residual effect.

Pupae often survive treatment, so it is usual to carry out a second visit and spray treatment to ensure adequate insecticides are available when they eventually hatch out.

2

Second inspection

We will come back after 14 to 21 days to repeat the same treatment carried out in the first inspection to help prevent an infestation. We will check if there are any new eggs or carpet beetles. If we see something new or suspicious, we will investigate.
